Interval Practice Test 2
Composition
Compose a melody in treble clef.
Start melody on scale degree 1.
End of measure 4 on scale degree 5 (dominant).
End of melody on scale degree 1.
Compose a counter-melody in bass clef.
Considerations: Do not copy what the top melody is doing, either note wise or rhythm wise. You want each part to be independent. See my example. The first four bars show what NOT to do, the second four bars show a good example. You should have instances of at least 8 different intervals types between your two voices. I will only count intervals that are sounded on the same count (for example two notes that both play on beat two will be counted as an interval, NOT a half note in one part on beat one and a quarter on beat 2 of the other part.)

>Compose an 8-bar modal melody using noteflight.com
Start on the first note of your mode scale. End the first 4 bars on the 5th note of the scale.
End the melody on the first note.
Focus on using mainly halfs, quarters and eighths, you can use a whole note for the last bar.
No accidentals, only notes in the mode.
No rests.
Be sure to label the piece by its modal name. For example: Composition in B Dorian.
Put your name in the composer space.
Only need to use one staff, either treble or bass, not both.
You can either print it out (lame!) or send me the link (Awesome!) by clicking on
Sharing, then click "Share this score with others." See 1. below. Then copy the html link and send me an email. See 2. below.
