A slash through a 6 means to raise the 6th above the bass.
E.g. an E in the bass with a slashed 6 means there is a C# above the bass.

Quiz on Monday. Review progressions for first inveresion I, IV, V chords.
Bass line
1. Using your sheet from class, circle which harmonies (harmonic progression) would be most appropriate. Look for strong, circle of 5th progressions. I, V, IV chords should predominate.
2. Go to noteflight bass line, go to File > Save As.. to save a copy.
3. Fill in the harmony you chose by using the chord symbol tool. Select a bass note and click K, you should see a cursor below the staff. (You can also go to Score > Text > Chord Symbol)
Type the harmony you picked, e.g. I6 or V or ii6, etc.
I found that I had to select every single note and press K and then type in my harmony, I couldn't figure out how to jump to the next note (maybe you can?).
4. Write a soprano line using the harmony you have chosen. If you pick a I chord, then the soprano should only be either a C, E, or G.
5. Avoid parallel perfect 5ths and 8vas (double-check your work by checking each interval created between the bass and soprano).
6. Resolve leading-tones in the soprano.
7. Email your soprano lines to jeremy.marino@d128.org
8. Enjoy your weekend.

Provide a soprano line that is harmonically appropriate. Avoid using parallel 5ths and 8vas. Resolve leading tones.

When you open this bass line, see if you can do a Save As. Otherwise just copy it out in a New Score.
